Media campaigns
The CSP runs various awareness campaigns to highlight the difference that physiotherapy can make to people's lives.
Move for Health
The main aim of the CSP's Move for Health campaign is to promote good health through regular physical activity by encouraging people of all ages to exercise.
Move for Health is the CSP's main campaign and will promote the contribution that chartered physiotherapists make to helping people improve their health and quality of life.
Move for Health is a long-term, integrated campaign, bringing together PR and media work, information distribution, CSP member-led events, policy and influencing work, and online communications, with regular bursts of promotional activity.
Move for Health Kids
Move for Health Kids, part of the CSP's Move for Health campaign, aims to help children be more active and improve their diet.
The CSP is working in partnership with the British Dietetic Association (BDA) on the Move for Health Kids initiative. The CSP and the BDA have jointly produced a new free leaflet called Fit for the Future which explains the benefits of physical activity for children, and offers advice on easy, fun ways to get children active and eating healthily.
To launch Move for Health Kids, 'Healthy School Day' events took place across the UK in September 2009, with chartered physiotherapists and dieticians going into primary schools together to give advice to teachers, parents, carers and children on exercise and healthy eating for kids.
Download a copy of the CSP's campaign report Fit for the Future - How healthy and active are our children? which gives details about the rise in obesity amongst UK children, as poor diet and lack of exercise take their toll.
What do we want to achieve?
Move for Health encourages people to improve their health and wellbeing by taking regular exercise and increasing their levels of physical activity.
With the health agenda currently focused on public health issues, such as obesity and disease prevention, physiotherapists have a golden opportunity to position the profession as one with a wide role to play in encouraging healthy lifestyles, particularly through exercise.
Specifically, Move for Health will:- Encourage people to take up appropriate exercise and increase their physical activity levels
- Promote physiotherapists as experts on physical activity/exercise and preventing ill health
- Illustrate that physiotherapy is about far more than treating existing illness and injury.
The attention of Move for Health turns to older people in 2010, and emphasis will be given towards helping adults stay fit for work throughout the duration of the campaign.
