Resource for commissioners of services in England

This section highlights the role of physiotherapy in addressing the key areas identified by Lord Darzi's Next Stage Review Interim Report (October 2007) and, more recently, by the strategic health authority vision statements.

Follow the links below to read anonymised examples of solution-focused physiotherapy practice and/or service redesign.

The interim report also usefully highlighted four broad factors which could improve the service, namely:

  • access
  • dignity and the patient as a person
  • integrating care / partnership
  • choice and personal control.

These four factors are inherent to the nature and role of physiotherapy (and other Allied Health Professionals (AHPs)).
