Support tools

Use our support tools to assist in your own CPD: details about the new CSP ePortfolio, the portfolio guide, the outcomes model and a range of information papers.

CSP ePortfolio

The CSP ePortfolio, known as PebblePad, is a brand new resource from the CSP to support its members to plan, undertake and evaluate effective CPD activities. It complements the existing package of CSP CPD resources by providing an online, password-protected tool where you can store information about your learning and development, skills and knowledge and career planning in a confidential and secure environment.

Key features of ePortfolio are that you can:

  • upload relevant files into your ePortfolio from your own computer
  • link different records together for ease of cross-referencing and consolidation
  • build online CVs
  • create specific profiles drawn from your ePortfolio to demonstrate compliance with e.g. Health Professions Council (HPC) CPD requirements, the Knowledge and Skills Framework, appraisal, professional body standards etc
  • share records of your choosing with peers, tutors, managers for information or feedback
  • store all your CPD records and related files in one place online

See the ePortfolio launch page for more details.

Developing a portfolio: a guide for CSP members

The CSP portfolio guide assists members to plan, undertake and evaluate effective CPD activities. The guide was developed in September 2001. The guide is a personal tool designed to help you:

  • develop skills to take you through the CPD process
  • decide what information to collect about your CPD activities
  • describe and record the outcomes of your CPD activities using appropriate proformas
  • get you started on keeping a portfolio to assist you in reflecting on and evaluating your learning
  • provide evidence of your CPD using completed versions of the proformas.

You can also read more about the CSP portfolio guide.

An outcomes model: demonstrating professionalism through CPD

A framework to help physiotherapists demonstrate professionalism within their scope of practice, by providing evidence of their CPD. The model:

  • comprises six broad outcomes that describe professionalism
  • includes proformas to encourage reflection
  • provides you with written evidence and information to help prepare profiles for external audiences
  • provides appendices for additional resources and support materials
  • complements the CSP's flexible, enabling approach to CPD.

A copy of the outcomes model, which CSP members can download for free, is available on this website: see the publication record.

How do the CSP outcomes model and the CSP ePortfolio/Developing a portfolio guide fit together?

The outcomes model provides an overarching framework for qualified physiotherapists to demonstrate their continuing professionalism linked to their scope of practice by providing evidence of their CPD against six broad outcomes.

The ePortfolio/Developing a portfolio guide provide members with tools to help evidence learning.

Use of the ePortfolio/Developing a portfolio guide and the outcomes model help you to plan and structure your CPD. Evidence from both can help with the preparation of profiles for external audiences.

The CSP ePortfolio, Developing a portfolio guide and the outcomes model can be used as standalone tools by all members or in combination as complementary resources for evidencing and evaluating CPD.
